No Nostalgia, No Interest

Forgive me, but I don't remember the late seventies and early eighties all that well. I remember Reagan being sworn into office, and almost nothing else. Thus, the disco period holds no power over me. Perhaps I should have used this as reason to skip out on this movie, which did nothing but annoy me. I didn't find any of the characters interesting, I didn't find the period interesting, and I didn't find the story interesting. Triple threat. If the idea was to make a movie about how shallow people were, then it succeeded, but without making their interactions meaningful. I could only stand so much of watching Kate Beckinsale's Charlotte heap abuse on Chloë Sevigny's Alice before I was just ready to leave. Watching them move into that apartment foretold the aggravation, and everything after that was annoying, because the characters should've seen it coming. I had no pity for them.
