At Last!

At long last, the alphabet is complete! I have searched high and low for a movie to fill the yawning gulf of Q. I thought for a while that it would be Quiz Show. I even rented it once, and then ran out of time to watch it. I contemplated The Quick and the Dead since it was Tony's choice. Imagine my surprise when I checked Ebert and saw it get three stars! Granted, this colors my impression somewhat, but such is life.

Bumpy

Quick Change is a bumpy ride. It bears some similarity to Planes, Trains & Automobiles, but isn't quite as polished. When Bill Murray is working the situation, be it on the bus, in the back of an electronics store, or in the bank, the movie is at its best. Oddly, Murray doesn't always seem entirely in the scene like we'd expect. Of course, underplaying jokes has always been his style.

Cast Connections

That taxi driver is Tony Shalhoub, the cab driver on "Wings" and more recently the engineer in Galaxy Quest. Gang boss Lombino was played by Kurtwood Smith, of all people. He's now Red Forman on "That '70s Show" and was also in Citizen Ruth.
