Bone Dry

At their best, vampire movies are a lot of fun. Is there any other manifestation of the supernatural that has traditions nearly as famous? It's very sad, then, when a vampire movie doesn't provide anything interesting in its rehashing of undead lore. House of Dark Shadows may be successful as a follow-on to the sci-fi soap opera "Dark Shadows", but it doesn't have the life to live on its own. The characters, familiar to the fans of the series, were poorly developed and many were poorly acted. Actually, I shouldn't be surprised by any of this! The whole thing is a soap opera, and has all the earmarks of one. Paradoxically, House of Dark Shadows was enough of a box office success to spawn sequels, but it was also hailed as the beginning of the end of the series. For me, it's just a source of boredom.
