Duly Warned

Although pretty bad, this movie is quite watchable. It was the last on the triple-bill of bad movies that began with The Glimmer Man and No Escape. The first was a Steven Seagal flick, and so was laughable. The second was just plain boring. This was at least somewhat stimulating, so it got a few points. It was also mercifully short.

Sound and Fury

When a movie has John Woo as the executive producer, you have some expectations for the quality of the production. The lesson taught here is that if Woo isn't directing, it's just not the same. The direction here, by Che-Kirk Wong, gives the action scenes plenty of energy, but most of the rest of the movie lacks what Woo can do. Unfortunately, the action sequences here lack coherence. It's a little too hard to piece together where everybody is supposed to be.

Signifying Nothing

It's pretty sad that Mark Wahlberg would take a role like this after being so good in Boogie Nights. He never seems comfortable in the character. I'll admit that it's one of the character's traits that he's never really relaxed, but watching a character guzzle antacid doesn't inspire me.
